🪴 Field Notes 002 – Dirt Under My Fingernails, Tabs Still Open

👋 Writer’s Note

Welcome back, friend. I’m so glad you’re here. Whether you're rooting for the ranch, growing your own windowsill basil, or just figuring it all out one day at a time — I see you. I'm building Y’allsWell Ranch from scratch, with community, queerness, and healing at the center. These Field Notes are part love letter, part blueprint, part personal diary from the frontlines of dreaming something into being.

Let’s dig in.

Hi friend,

I’m writing to you a little more grounded this week, which feels like a small miracle. A lot has happened — not the glossy, overnight-success kind of progress, but the real kind. The foundational kind. The kind that happens between emails, while peeling stickers off new inventory boxes, or standing in line at the bank trying to explain what “Y’allsWell Ranch” is to someone who’s never heard the phrase “queer wellness farm.”

But we’re doing it.

✨ We set up our business banking this week (!!), and I’ve been deep in the world of business credit — learning how to build it from scratch without falling into the same old traps. Honestly, I didn’t think I’d ever get excited about terms like net-30, but here we are. I’m building this to last.

🌾 And... we’re just a few days away from starting farm school — which makes my heart race every time I type it. It’s one thing to say “I want to start a queer farm,” and another thing to actually learn how to do it. I’m nervous. I’m proud. I’m ready.

🪟 The second bedroom transformation is still underway. The inventory for our spring drop arrived this week: pillows, t-shirts, and a few new designs I’m honestly obsessed with. We uploaded everything to yallswell.com, added donation functionality, and also...

🧠 Opened our paid content channels (!!) — with a full month’s worth of planty, valuable, beginner-to-advanced content ready to help folks grow their own food.

I’ve also been prepping for my trip upstate, where I’ll be walking the properties IRL. I’ve been journaling a lot about what this project means — not just for me, but for all of us. The bigger opportunity I keep seeing is this: downloadable sovereignty. That’s what I’m calling it. The idea that we can share tools, wisdom, and plans — even before we break ground.

And speaking of tools — I launched our first-ever digital garden shop download (!!) featuring a printable urban seed inventory tracker and a flower inventory sheet. It’s cute, clean, and totally functional — just like your dream porch garden.

🌼 Oh, and I might’ve spent an hour daydreaming about building a mobile flower cart I can roll to the beach this summer. Picture it: salt air, queer joy, fresh bouquets, handmade zines, healing herbs. This is what we’re growing toward.

📍 What We Did in the Last 2 Weeks (a build + a bloom):

✅ Opened our business bank account + started building business credit
✅ Ordered and stocked spring inventory for our studio/shop
✅ Uploaded new products to yallswell.com
✅ Launched our paid content channels with a month of planty content
✅ Released our first digital downloadables (seed + flower inventory!)
✅ Prepped for our upcoming land walks in upstate NY
✅ Dreamed up summer marketing moments like a beachside flower cart

👀 What’s Coming Up Next:

🌿 First day of farm school (!!)
🌲 Visiting and walking potential land for Y’allsWell Ranch
🎥 Filming our first how-to plant content (gonna be cute)
🧾 Turning our downloadable trackers into a mini printed zine
📦 Building physical kits for apartment growers
🪴 Expanding into community-focused, queer-forward garden content

🌱 This isn’t just a farm — it’s a movement.

A movement rooted in softness, survival, and soil.
It’s for every queer person who has never had a place to just be.
To plant. To rest. To grow.

And while we’re not there yet — we’re getting closer. Every day.

What’s your dream garden like? Balcony, beachside, rooftop, or something totally new?

Some totally unique and new, something that has never been done before that incorporates elements of everything!

Thanks for reading, for rooting, and for believing in this dream.
We’re not on the land yet, but we’re in the work.
And that matters.

With love (and tired hands),
